Kwansei Gakuin University’s Intelligent Blockchain+ Innovation Research Center (KGU IBIRC) held the EU-Japan Symposium on Advanced Technologies for First responders in conjunction with the CERIS – DISASTER RESILIENT SOCIETIES Cluster Conference 2022 from 21 to 25 March 2022.

The aim of this symposium was to encourage knowledge exchange on disaster management and technology between Europe, Japan, and other regions including the U.S. and South Korea.

The symposium was held online in the asynchronous and synchronous format to accommodate different time zones, including Europe and Japan.

The program included keynotes from Japan, FASTER technology presentations, practitioners workshop, technology workshop, practitioners testimonials, EU DRS cluster project presentations, and two CERIS collaboration cluster sessions.

The symposium was broadcasted in two languages (English and Japanese). Thanks to the FASTER partners’ cooperation, the symposium had a good number of active participants. On the CERIS session on 25 March, the event had approximately 80 participants from different regions, including Europe and Japan.
